Policy agent (senior function):ACEMJob description:Job DescriptionAbout the CollegeThe Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a member-located organisation whose principal function is the training, assessment and continuing professional development of emergency physicians as well as the advancement of professional standards and advocacy in emergency medicine across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The Position We arerecruitinga passionate Policy agent who is looking to develop their leadership abilities and mentoring expertise. this function provides opportunities to build relationships across a range of health sectors and governments, with a focus on building ACEM's policy credentials in Aotearoa New Zealand.Please note this is a permanent part-time position located in Wellington and we are accepting part-time applications at 0.6FTE to 0.8FTE for the right candidate. As a senior member of the Policy team, your work in advocacy and policy development will make a real difference to health system reform, with a core purpose of covering systematic challenges within Emergency Medicine and influencing healthcare results for vulnerable and diverse populations within Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Working closely with passionate Doctors and the Policy and Advocacy team, your contribution will ensure that our Fellows and Trainees have the resources to practice safe and high-quality care whilst improving patient results. Key strategic priorities for the team include covering bottlenecks that prevent patients from being admitted to hospital (access block), mental health presentations at Emergency Departments (ED), workforce distribution and building and maintaining safe working environments within the ED. Other key focuses of the function include implementing and coordinating advocacy campaigns or policy relating to public health and disaster medicine, and Indigenous health. Our ideal candidate will have: » Tertiary qualifications in public health, public policy, or other related health disciplines. » Strong conceptual and analytical expertise to identify problems and solutions in a range of policy and advocacy environments. » expertise of policy, legislative or political processes as they relate to the health sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. » Well-developed engagement and consultation expertise including the capability to identify and contact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
