Our client is one of the biggest industrial services businesses in New Zealand providing cleaning and facility maintenance services. They are seeking an Accountant for a 3-month engagement. About the role: The accountant will be in charge of completing the assigned profit and loss statements on time and accurately, as well as keeping the assigned balance sheets up to date accurately, in compliance with the relevant accounting standards and business policies and procedures. Key responsibilities: » Ensure the production and review of periodical accounts and Balance Sheet reconciliations are in compliance with Divisional timetables, accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements. » Adhere to standardized general accounting processes, procedures, and supporting templates and tools across the Division, as directed, to enable Group-wide consistency. » Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. » Collaborate with the general accounting team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. » Prepare reports to statutory bodies on finance and taxation obligations including Fringe Benefits Tax returns, Business Activity Statements, Excise, and any other business-specific requirements as directed. » Monitor and analyze general accounting processes to identify more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. » Provide advice, training, and support to business people to improve the financial aspects of the Division. » Participate in the external financial audit process. » Be aware and comprehensively understand all financial policy guidelines and procedures within Waste Management and ensure dissemination/training of business partners and team members within their area of responsibility. » Contribute to the continuous improvement of Group financial policies and procedures. » Ensure adherence to the Group internal controls framework.
