The Tautai Oceania Internships are a reciprocal expertise exchange between interns and host organisations.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from host organisations who are keen to provide professional development opportunities, as well as a nurturing and enriching learning environment for our interns.
Interns arrive with their own expertise, both learned and imbued through their culture, and through their presence they are able to show the way forward for other aspiring arts leaders, fa'a sino ala (?to show the way', Johnny Penisula.).
The internships are available to Pasifika arts practitioners and academics across all disciplines that want to build upon their current practice in arts administration. Applications are sought from suitably qualified, hard-working, enthusiastic and determined people who are serious about forging a career in the arts.
Tautai meets all of the administrative needs of the programme, including recruitment, contracts to the parties involved, organising mentor support for each intern and events. Host organisations are invited to key gatherings all over the year.
Hosting our brilliant interns also provides an exciting opportunity to forge strong and significant relationships between the host organisation, the interns and Tautai. Tautai are very keen to create networks of support, as well as potential paths for future collaboration.
Tautai's internship alumni include Faith Wilson, founder of Saufo`i Press; Paul Lisi, Arts Practice Director, Pacific, Creative New Zealand; Grace Taylor, Toloa Manager, Ministry for Pacific Peoples; Sonya Withers, Lecturer, School of Design, Massey University; Amiria Puia-Taylor, Director and Co-Founder, The 312 Hub; Ufitia Sagapolutele, Choreographer, Dancer and Creative Director of Tulou Collective; and Haanz Fa'avae-Jackson, Performing Artist and Co-Founder of Konfident Klothing.
Cost
The Internships run for 20 weeks, and interns work a 40-hour week. The internships are full-time paid opportunities through Creative New Zealand funding. Host organisations do not need to contribute financially.
Duration
Internships are for 20 weeks, and they need to be completed between May to December.
Background:
Generously funded by Creative New Zealand and proudly delivered by Tautai, the Pasifika Internship Programme has grown to become a signature initiative that drives Pasifika arts management across the wider arts sector of Aotearoa.
