Our mission is to connect New Zealand audiences with short films and share New Zealand short films with the world. We do this primarily by organising a film festival that screens a selection of the best short films from Aotearoa and around the world each spring. The festival takes place in cinemas nationwide. Additionally, we run a number of workshops, training programmes and special events all over the year relating to short film, and fostering filmmaking talent in Aotearoa. Purpose of this function This is a contract function with the following objectives: » Ensure the Show Me Shorts website is maintained and updated to a high standard » Ensure the Show Me Shorts website design remains modern and user-friendly » Provide the online version of the programme brochure content with booking links each year » Integrate the online component of the festival into the website Key accountabilities » Maintain the Show Me Shorts website and web hosting » Provide and apply modern, user-friendly web design to the Show Me Shorts website » Assist the Show Me Shorts team with any complicated website updates, or fixes to issues/bugs » Add an online/digital version of the Show Me Shorts Film Festival programme brochure content to the website each year - with bookable links » Collaborate with the Digital Capcapability Coordinator to ensure the online component of the festival is integrated into the website in as seamless a way possible » Provide proactive and efficient technical support for any website issues » Update the Website Editing Bible so that Show Me Shorts staff can easily use this to lgain how to make updates to the website themselves » Work constructively as a contributing member of the wider Show Me Shorts team Essential criteria » practice working in web design (especially Wordpress) » practice designing and developing WordPress websites » capability to develop and build a coding system for uploading full programme details from a text format and turn this into a detailed online version of the festival programme, with multiple (more than 30) web pages » Highly developed planning and organisational expertise » capability to communicate clearly and work to tight deadlines » Common sense » High attention to detail » Pragmatic problem solving abilities Desirable criteria » practice working on websites for events organisations » A participative, enthusiastic and open working style » practice working with the Shift72 online festival software Location of work The Web Designer is a remote function, so the contractor is expected to work from their own home or office apart from attending occasional meetings at the Show Me Shorts office. Schedule of work and remuneration This contract function will commence on 1 July 2021 and continue until 1 July 2022. It is estimated that the work of the Web Designer will require approximately 100 hours per year. Most of the work will be done in the weeks leading into the programme launch and festival opening.
