About volunteering with VSA VSA is New Zealand’s largest and most practiced volunteering agency working in international development. We provide skilled Kiwi volunteers to support organisations in the Pacific and beyond through capacity building, both in country and virtually. Please note VSA Volunteers must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident. Our Partner Organisation -ABG, Bougainville Health Department & Buin Health Centre (BHC) Since 2013 the ARoB Department of Healthhas benefited from significant investment and technical support to overhaul the departments' governance, human resource capcapability and infrastructure. Part of this work included a comprehensive Rural Health Services Assessment (RHSA) consistent with the PNG National Health Service Standards (the first of its kind in PNG). The RHSA informs the Strategic Health Service Development Plan (SHSDP), which provides the ARoB DoH and its partners with guidance on how to develop health services in the ARoB in the medium term. The Country Get off the beaten path to Bougainville! Now being the autonomous region of Bougainville, its rugged landscape is covered in rainforests. The Assignment In this assignment a volunteer is required to provide support and work with Isaiah (agent in charge of the BHC pharmacy) in Buin, Southern Bougainville, in all aspects of managing a hospital pharmacy facility including simple financial record keeping. The VSA volunteer will assist with building capacity so that the pharmacy at BHC in Buin would operate more efficiently and drugs and vaccines would be monitored and stored safelyand help move staff towards achieving set goals by increasing their capability and capacity to deliver a better health care to patients of Southern Bougainville.
