Farm adjunct / Herd Manager:Job description:Farm adjunct / Herd ManagerPayment: Accommodation & Paid ($21.20+ per hour (dependent on practice))Job location: Hinds, Ashburton Region: Christchurch & Canterbury practice: Limited practice Necessary Listing Added: 25/08/2022 We require a Senior Farm adjunct/ Junior Herd Manager to join us from the middle of October on a 550-cow farm. this function is for someone who is wanting to progress their career and is a team player, reliable, honest, great work ethic, and good sense of humour. Our current Herd Manager is leaving to go back to India for personal reasons. It is a well-established dairy farm with good facilities in a traditional dairy area. The dairy platform is 150ha and the farm owner’s dairy support block located within 10km. The cows are milked through a modern 54-bale rotary cowshed with both Protrack and Ezy heat identification system. Over the last few years, the cows have produced an average of 520kgms. We work a 5 on 2 off roster and 6 on 1 off during calving. Pay will be dependent on practice. The farm is fully irrigated with 2 centre pivots with 20ha of k-lines and sprinklers which get moved with a Tracmap GPS system. There is one small Roto-Rainer that waters a one paddock. Winter grazing is on fodder beat and kale and done on the dairy support block so you will be involved with this along with us and the farm owners. Job requirements (but not limited to): Break fences, tractor work including feeding silage, weed control, animal health and wellbeing, milking, maintaining a tidy and presentable farm/cow shed Implementing farm policies and plans Able to work to instruction is a must as is getting along with others Training will be provided Primary ITO is encouraged and supported Requirements: Tractor and 2-wheel motor bike and quad bike practice At least 1yr NZ dairy practice Pass drug and alcohol testing pre-work Police check maybe requested Restricted driver’s licence as a minimum A valid NZ work permit or NZ resident or NZ citizen Accommodation The farm is located 5 mins from Hinds, 20 minutes south of Ashburton and 45 minutes from Timaru. Local school is Hinds and the school bus stops just by the farm. The Farm adjunct’s house is 2-bedroom with a heat pump. This is not shared accommodation. Skills:
