The Organisation
You’ll be working for one of New Zealand’s largest seafood operations. They have farms in the Coromandel and a processing facility located in Greerton. It’s a down to earth environment with good people and a diverse workforce – they pride themselves on a good people-centric culture, it’s like a big family.
 
The function
The exiting HR Manager is part of the senior leadership abilities team. We are very open to the level of practice you may have – you may be at a senior HR level or HR Coordinator – we are open to making anything work. Our preference is 40 hours, but again if you’ve got 20-30hrs capacity and strong practice, let’s chat.
 
Recruitment for the permanent HR Manager function will start shortly, but with the current HR Manager due to leave within a month we’re preparing with enough resource to carry the business through.
The core responsibilities are:
   » Leading HR functions for the business, managing an HR Consultant and superviseing payroll
   » superviseing recruitment and involved in some high level recruitment
   » Employment relations matters
   » Internal communications on anything people/wellbeing related (recently covid has been a focus)
   » Projects (updating the time in attendance system, reviewing JDs, training, onboarding and inductions; operational matters, apprenticeships)
There are day to day operational HR tasks and the function could extend to high level strategic tasks – again Information technology depends on the practice of the incumbent.
 
The Ideal Person
This person will have a good general HR background, preferably in a medium-large organisation with a diverse cultural workplace. The nature of the current situation means this function will fit someone whose used to rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in. A good pragmatic thinker, problem solver, team player and strong communicator.
