The Council celebrates the city's cultural heritage and is committed to its best-practice management. Our Heritage Team provides regulatory and funding advice, management and advocacy to enhance the contribution of heritage to city's urban regeneration. this function sits in our new created Strategic Planning unit; this unit is focussed on leading and guiding the long-term future direction of how our city should develop, look and feel. this function like many other functions in this unit will focus on increasing collaboration across our business units to help us deliver on our ambitions for the future of the city by working as one team and creating great partnerships within our group and the wider organisation and our partners across the city.
The primary purpose of the function is to develop relationships across Council and externally with heritage building owners, the commercial sector, iwi, local and central government partners to strategically utilise the Built Heritage Investment Fund for urban regeneration results. Your specialist knowledge of heritage buildings, capability to see the big picture and understand our strategic priorities will help you facilitate more joined up Council investments. You will be capable of bringing stakeholders together, establishing partnerships and facilitating collaborative relationships. We are seeking for a strategic thinker who can develop new opportunities and can navigate the political landscape.
There is also a requirement for this function to provide heritage assessments of Resource Consent applications under the Resource Management Act. practice in heritage management in a RMA environment and an knowledge of New Zealand's heritage legislation are important.
This is an opportunity for someone who is agile and adaptive in their approach to be involved in exciting changes in Wellington. Your practice will be in either heritage management, urban development, architecture or design. You will also have a good knowledge of Mana Whenua perspectives and the place of the Treaty of Waitangi in local government.
