Strategic Planner (Bylaws)

As our district continues to grow, we have responded with an exciting strategy and policy programme which covers a wide variety of issues from city centre regeneration, climate change and managing growth. To support us in the prosperous delivery of our strategy and policy work, We are seeking for skilled and qualified people who are eager to help to shape the Whangarei District and its communities.
Due to an internal promotion we At Presenthave an opportunity for a Strategic Planner (Bylaws) to join our Strategic Planning Team. With a reputation for innovative thinking and community engagement on sometimes hotly debated projects our team of strategists need someone who is a great communicator, a creative thinker and can deliver high quality strategic projects.
As our bylaws specialist, you will be working on, and leading, a variety of policy and bylaw projects as well as having the opportunity to work outside of the bylaws space by getting involved in the development and review of wider strategic policies and strategies. You will be researching background information, developing policy options, actively involved in consultation and will finalise the policy or bylaw with key stakeholders and elected members.
You'll be part of a team with skills in a number of areas including strategy development, design, urban planning and data analysis. As the prosperous candidate you will compliment this skill set but also bring along additional skills in the local government act, policy analysis and bylaws or policy development that will expand the capcapability of the team.

•expertise of the Local Government Act and policy development processes
•practice in policy and/or bylaw development
•Well-developed research and analytical skills, including quantitative and qualitative analysis
•The capability to prosperously work with a varied portfolio of planning and policy work
•Excellent communication skills and the capability to foster significant relationships with key stakeholders
•Innovative solutions to strategic urban, rural and environmental planning issues
•The capability to work with multi-disciplinary project teams that have delivered high quality planning results
•Engagement and consultation skills with a variety of different communities.
The projects attached to this position will be varied but also offer exciting opportunities for an interesting work programme. this function maybe appropriate for planners who have recently graduated or with an intermediate level of practice.
