Job Description

Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.
We want to hear from practiced Policy Analysts to fill functions in the Strategy and Policy Group.
The Strategy and Policy group is tasked with designing and driving how government agencies work together to improve wellbeing. We achieve this through:
   » Maintaining a reputation for delivering first class advice to the Government of the day
   » Supporting the implementation of the Public Service Act 2020 and wider public service change agenda
   » Developing of excellent public policy, strategy, research and information management skills
   » Providing skills and thought leadership abilities on machinery of government and public management
   » Developing innovative, data and evidence driven approaches that have potential to enhance the future performance of public services, and
   » Supporting agencies and chief executives to organise around shared problems

The practice, expertise and skills We are seeking for are:
   » A tertiary qualification in a significant discipline or equivalent practice in a policy function (4+ years),
   » Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal with the capability to present complex matters simply,
   » practice of the government environment and capability to navigate the complex policy issues to provide the best advice and solutions for Ministers, and
   » Strong influencing skills, able to build momentum and support for new ideas and ways of working.

For an analyst we usually pay between $73,300 and $ 85,800, depending on skills and practice.
