Job Opportunity: Principal Advisor – Pacific Health, Strategy and Policy:Ministry of HealthJob description:Job Description» Influence Health results for Pacific people» Take an active function in providing Pacific equity advice into policy, strategy and programmes of work in the Population Health Directorate » Fivemonth fixed-term This is an exciting function for a Principal Advisor with exceptional relationship expertise and a ‘can-do’ attitude to really make a difference in supporting the health results for Pacific people. You will be responsible for the provision of high quality strategic and operational advice and analysis and provide recommendations to support the design and implementation of strategy, policies and programmes in Pacific Health. This is a pivotal function in supporting the Pacific Health team drive equitable health results for Pacific populations in New Zealand. To be prosperous, you will have practice in facilitating health sector collaboration to collectively determine the priorities for programmes of work, and practice in developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be someone who has the following: » A deep knowledge and working application of, and commitment to, equity and the Treaty of Waitangi » Excellent communication expertise, both written and verbal » practice and an interest in people leadership abilities, including coaching and motivating people to ensure they are engaged and delivering results » A proven track record in exercising judgement and providing advice at a senior level, and working with very senior managers in a confidential environment. You must be pro-active and willing to challenge » An knowledge of the machinery of government » Significant practice to work effectively under pressure and when there is ambiguity » Translate strategic thinking into a compelling narrative for change, especially in the context of Pacific and Maori equity » Can carry discussions and hold your own in challenging environments » Negotiate, influence and engage with people at all levels this function calls for you to have significant confidence, capcapability and operational practice, you will also have practice working in an environment that requires a high level of discretion, sensitivity and interpersonal interaction. It’s important that you have an knowledge and consciousness of the Treaty of Waitangi and understand the function of the Ministry and health sector in reducing health disparities and improving health results for Mâori.
