We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters. The M?ori Crown Relations group and the M?ori Crown Engagement team support Te Pou Hauora M?ori – The M?ori Health Directorate to be the principal policy advisor to government for M?ori health matters. Te Pou Hauora M?ori leads the Ministry’s kaitiaki – stewardship function to ensure the Ministry is meeting its obligations to M?ori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and M?ori health equity in the context of the health system’s performance for M?ori.
Ko t?u ake mahi – What you’ll do
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Advisor M?ori Crown Engagement within our Te Pou Hauora M?ori – The M?ori Health Directorate.
In this function, you will play a key function providing high quality advice and input to advance the suite of work programmes in the M?ori Crown Engagement team and the M?ori Health Directorate including supporting the key Ministerial and governance relationships in M?ori health. A strong focus of this function is on engaging with hap?, iwi and h?pori M?ori, particularly in relation to treaty settlements and relationship agreements.
Ko ng? pukenga ?u – What you’ll bring
   » Knowledge and significant practice in M?ori Crown engagement, Treaty settlement relationships, Treaty partnerships or in a significant field
   » knowledge of M?ori relationship dynamics and practice building and maintaining highly effective relationships with wh?nau, hapu, iwi and M?ori communities and entities, within the Ministry’s Te Tiriti framework for the health and discapability system
   » capability to operate in te ao M?ori contexts, including knowledge of tikanga, kawa and te reo M?ori
   » Proven thought leadership abilities and senior policy development skills
   » Previous practice working in central government and a thorough knowledge of the machinery of Government
   » Significant practice in providing advice to Ministers and driving work programmes to ensure delivery meets quality expectations
   » significant tertiary qualifications and working knowledge of the health and social sectors.
