Secondary care facilities are located at Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt with around 270 beds. In addition, Hutt Valley DHB is the centre for the five tertiary/regional and sub regional services - Plastic, Maxillofacial and Burns Services; Rheumatology; School Dental Services; Regional Public Health; and Regional (Breast and Cervical) Screening Services. Located in a beautiful coastal city with easy access to the mountains, and the capital city Wellington, with a flourishing arts and culture scene, excellent galleries, theatres, restaurants, boutique shopping and some unique festivals in the annual calendar. There are endless opportunities for sports and adventure, including hiking, mountain biking and water sports. This is a great hub from which to explore both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. About the position The Hutt Valley DHB Paediatric Department is seeking a permanent up to a negotiable 1.0 full-time equivalent General Paediatrician to join a dedicated team of Paediatricians, committed to providing excellent service to the children and young people in the Hutt Valley. The position includes general paediatric outpatient clinics, as well contributing to the general paediatric/neonatal on-call roster and wider service development. Our team Our Child Health Service has an enthusiastic team of 10 full- and part-time general, developmental, adolescent and community paediatricians, providing a range of general and sub-specialty paediatric services at Hutt Hospital. We have a Children's ward, level 2 Special Care Nursery that admits and manages neonates > 32 weeks gestation, Paediatric Outpatients and a Child Developmental Service. We have close ties and work closely with the Paediatric Department in Wellington Hospital, just 20mins away. We also have a Child Mental Health Service on site. Hutt Hospital is also a teaching hospital with medical students from the University of Otago rotating through the paediatric department. We supervise, and are accredited for paediatric specialty registrar training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
