Our Public Programmes team, part of the wider Children, Young People and Community Engagement group, works together within and across teams internally and externally to develop and deliver a vibrant public programme of community and visitor engagement activities that draw in diverse audiences to understand, enjoy, and form a deeper appreciation of our practices. We bring a te ao M?ori dimension to everything we do.

Te ?hua o te t?ranga |The nature of the position

We are seeking for a dynamic and practiced cultural professional who has a keen consciousness of how to engage a range of audiences in cultural practices and is an uber organiser and practiced leader of a committed and creative programming team.

Being audience-centric is at the heart of this newly established leadership abilities function. Your deep practice with project and team management, public programmes and audience insights will see you pioneer and develop a fresh consolidated audience-focused programme, within budget and in a planned, targeted manner. You will bring your highly developed planning and organisational expertise, and excellent written and verbal communication expertise, to a formulate a new approach for our programmes which reaches new audiences, works in community-generated and consultative ways, develops connections with new strategic partners and funders, and brings to life our exhibitions and collections to a broad range of visitors.

As the central point of contact for the team, and as part of the Wider leadership abilities Team (WLT) you will be a key connector from our Executive Lead Team (ELT) to audiences on the ground, engaging your team in a clear and connected programme across all sites.
