Job Opportunity: Calf Rearers:Job description:Calf RearersPayment: Accommodation & Paid ($21.20 to $27/hour depending on practice)Job location: Culverden Region: Christchurch & Canterbury practice: No practice Necessary Listing Added: 04/03/2022 We require TWO motivated and hardworking people to join our calf rearing team of three. this function will be fixed term from early/mid-July 2022 to about mid/end September 2022. everyday tasks are: *Feeding and training all calves. *Checking calf health and identifying sick calves. *Regularly disinfecting calf pens *Cleaning calf feeding equipment. *Topping up feed bins with meal and straw and so on. * Other jobs such as splitting firewood, planting natives, and spraying weeds may also be available. On the job training will be provided. There may also be an opportunity for some relief milking once calving slows down & finishes. You must: *Have a great attitude, sense of humour, a lot of patience and a sense of calm. (Calves can be frustrating!) *Be confident and physically fit and strong. *Be able to work flexible hours and in all weather. *Have an excellent level of written and spoken English. * candidates must have an excellent level of English, capability to get a work visa, valid driver's licence and will need their own car. The hourly rate is negotiable depending on practice, and fully furnished accommodation is available. Kenmare Dairy is a family owned and operated property calving 1450 cows this spring. We are13km west of Culverden and 100km North of Christchurch. We are a 30-minute drive to the Thermal Resort of Hanmer Springs - with its mountain bike tracks, walks, hot pools and cafes.
