Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland's identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections,developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events, educational programmes and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum's stories. We are Auckland's home of commemoration as well as the country's oldest research institution and a major tourist destination.
The newly created Design Studio is seeking an practiced Visual Designer to establish a visualization and motion graphics capcapability to complement its graphic and spatial design in delivering content for displays, exhibitions, and concept documentation.

What you will do:
   » The delivery of visual communication i.e., web graphics, printed 2D design, storyboards and presentation illustrations as required.
   » You will highlight and establish within the Design Studio, new developments in the world of animation and motion graphics that will develop the Museum's content delivery in world leading directions.
   » You will be working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
   » You will need to be a practical and technically minded designer who can adapt to constraints such as interdepartmental workflows or audio-visual equipment limitations and provide creative solutions.

Desired expertise and practice

You will bring with you:
The technical expertise:
   » Have a significant design qualification in visual design, UX Design, or related.
   » Be practiced in 2D animation and motion graphics; combining video, images and text to produce moving content for web design, graphic design and illustration.
   » Proficient skill with Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, Animate, Touchdesigner, XD (or similar) and wider technical skill across other software packages.
   » Previous practice illustrating people, animals and objects in perspective drawings either hand drawn or using compositing techniques.
   » Previous practiced with UI/UX design, research and storyboarding significant to the development of digital and physical interactives.
You as a person:
   » expertise of, or passion for a M?tauranga M?ori approach to arts, innovation and design.
   » Collaborative approach to design practice with excellent interpersonal expertise.
   » An eye for detail and capability to facilitate iterative design development.
