About our group and team
Te Mahau – Te Tai Raro is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership abilities and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support, education advice, regulation and network functions for schools and early learning services. We do this through coordinating and delivering responsive solutions in order to realise our local region education priorities and goals.
About this function
You will provide advice and skills on the Te Tai Tokerau early learning sector, planning and licencing and on the management of the early learning network. This will align with the Early Learning Action Plan and the new regulatory framework for early learning.
The early learning ‘Network Management function’ will include engagement with and assessment of prospective providers seeking approval to establish new early childhood services in line with community need and national and regional priorities:
   » Support our ECE Senior Advisors with portfolio work and other everyday business
   » Bring knowledge and practice of what works for early learners to the design and development and implementation of systems, methodologies, and tools
   » Prepare maps and plans to support planning and provision
   » Use a broad range of data and information to plan, design and deliver projects and workstreams
   » Strategic leadership abilities
   » Knowledge and knowledge of, and capability to utilise, appropriate statistical techniques to aid analyses.
   » Will be located in the Whangarei Office
About you
You will have the appropriate qualifications and the skills required to bring the following skills to this function including the following:
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
   » Ideally, prior knowledge and practice working in the early learning sector
   » A proven capability to establish, build and maintain highly effective working relationships across a range of agencies, NGOs and community groups
   » A good knowledge of recent legislative changes and the impact on early learning services
   » Demonstrable capability to translate operational policy into plans of action to support the delivery of policy intent
   » Strong analytical skills and the capability to work with a wide variety of data sets to determine needs, priorities, and results
   » A high level of communication capability – able to write with clarity to deliver messages effectively
   » Excellent time management and
   » A methodical and systematic approach to work while being creative and solution-focused
