About our group and team
Learning Support is a critical part of the Te Mahau – Te Tai Runga (South) Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring tha t children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) initiatives help parents, whanau, teachers, early childhood centres, and schools to address behaviour, improve children’s well-being, and increase educational achievement. By strengthening relationships and creating more positive home and school environments, we remove barriers to engagement and improve students’ chances to achieve at school and beyond.
Mo tenei turanga – About this function
The PB4L Advisor supports the delivery and assessment of the PB4L initiatives and programmes in conformity with the regional Learning Support services plan. This includes organising and coordinating courses to be delivered by accredited facilitators and working with providers. The PB4L Advisor also uses and interprets data to inform decision-making to increase the effectiveness of our practices and provide a connection between PB4L and wider Learning Support services to enable joined up service delivery.
We are seeking for an organised people-person to join our team supporting our PB4L work-programme. There is an administrative component to the job but the right candidate will be able to work with a wide variety of people from Learning Support practitioners, Service Managers and school principals, to our community parenting and teacher programme providers (RTLB and NGOs).

To be prosperous in this function, you will have:
   » a significant tertiary qualification or significant significant practice
   » strong presentation and influencing expertise to facilitate group sessions
   » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi
   » demonstrated capability to work collaboratively to support the work of the team
   » demonstrated capability to build strong working relationships and effective networks with key internal and external stakeholders
   » practice in the implementation of frameworks and leading changes to practice across organisations that support capcapability building
   » strong written and verbal communication expertise
   » excellent attention to detail and time management
   » advanced practice in using Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word and Excel
   » practice in event and project management are an advantage.
