Please note succsessfulcandidates will be required to work in our Wellington head office for thefirst three months of function as part of the training induction.

Who we are:
Insights MSD is a group within Strategy & Insights with specific responsibility to develop and operate data and analytics capcapability, generate actionable insights, and provide tools to support decision making. The group's focus is supporting people to make better decisions to improve New Zealanders' lives, by making better use of data, information, and evidence.
Client & Business Intelligence group is responsible for business intelligence for official reporting and to influence, inform and shape policy and operational decision making and delivery. Information technology also provides insights through data science and geospatial analysis.
The function:
You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will be responding everyday to high numbers of data requests from a wide variety of internal and external clients.
As the prosperous candidate, you will handle your share of data requests and provide responses that will be used by business units across the Ministry. The data you extract will be used for:
   » Responding to Official Information Act requests and Parliamentary Questions.
   » Informing Service Design and Service Delivery decisions.
   » Provision to other Government Agencies.
   » Sharing with stakeholders in the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) sector.
   » Responding to Media Requests.
   » Many other activities requiring robust evidence bases.
The work is always varied, and you will always be challenged to find the best way to extract the required data, while building networks with stakeholders across the Ministry.
You will have: You will have:
   » expertise in statistical reporting within a large data warehouse that brings together corporate information from a variety of different business contexts.
   » practice with extracting, validating, formatting and analysing information.
   » The capability to manipulate data and generate reports.
   » Strong SAS programming expertise with SAS VA being an advantage.
   » Strong verbal and written communication expertise.
   » Foundation in core software - Word, Excel.
   » Building and maintaining strong network relationships with stakeholders.
   » practice in teaching and mentoring other analysts in the technical aspects (Senior Analyst).
