About our group and team The Infrastructure Services team sits within our Operations and Infrastructure division providing technical support for core infrastructure services. We have LANs, WANs, Wi-Fi, VMware, LINUX and Microsoft technologies along with a raft of monitoring and security tools. Due to growth and the need to support our key Information technology projects we have an opportunity within the team. Come and join us. About this function The function of the Senior Network Engineer, Infrastructure Services is to ensure the Ministry’s core network infrastructure is configured and maintained effectively and continues to provide the necessary network, voice and data centre services as required by the Ministry. About you You will be an practiced Network Engineer who can bring technical skills as well as great customer service to the function. Most particularly, you will: » have a solid engineering background and possess a strong operational knowledge of network technology that enables you to prosperously manage complex data networks » have demonstrated practice using CISCO/CISO Wi-Fi/Checkpoint/FortiGate/VMware-NSX » have sound knowledge of network security, WAN, LAN » Have prior exposure and knowledge of complex vLans » be an excellent communicator both verbally and written with the capability to produce and maintain clear documentation » Be an excellent problem solver who can analyse complex issues » be a great team player with excellent relationships skills who can collaborate, consult, guide and mentor » have the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
