About the Early Learning and Student Achievement Group
At the heart of Early Learning and Student Achievement Group is making sure that every day, in every early learning service, k?hanga reo, school, and kura, the education workforce and curriculum delivery is world class, and focused on what New Zealanders need for their best future.
Secondary Tertiary is in the Early Learning and Student Achievement (ELSA) Group. Information technology is responsible for setting the standards of NCEA qualifications that senior secondary level students study.
About this function
The Review of Achievement Standards (RAS) project is a critical part of our NCEA Change Programme and our Production House team has a key function to play in this. As part of this team you will work alongside other teams to develop products for RAS alongside leaders from the education sector.
More specifically, you will:
   » work alongside teachers and other stakeholders from the education sector to produce new standards and connected products for NCEA
   » be responsible for providing technical (written) skills. So, high-quality written products are produced and undertake analysis
   » work closely with a lead from the Senior Secondary team who will facilitate the stakeholder group/s you support
   » embrace the challenge of ensuring the inclusion of matauranga M?ori and te ao M?ori in all the work the team produces.
We have multiple, Wellington located opportunities available and you will be joining an established team. Two candidates are being recruited specifically to work on subject development in te reo M?ori and will work closely with our ?konga M?ori team.
About you
To be prosperous in the function, you will need to be comfortable with becoming the technical expert in a group setting and key driver of product development behind the scenes in the Ministry. Plus, at times with NZQA (our partner in the project). You will work with other parts of our business to get products completed, to time and to high quality.
You will also offer the following:
   » Strong written skills and attention to detail
   » Conceptual thinking and practice producing documents to suit client and technical needs
   » Confident attitude discussing matters, undertaking research, performing analysis, and presenting your contributions to small groups to both internal and external stakeholders
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
We would welcome applications from existing technical writers and people from a range of other significant skillsets (such as policy analysis).
Prior practice in the education sector and/or in another government department would be desirable but not essential.
