Job Description

We are seeking for an practiced Project Manager to lead and develop the rejuvenation of the Waihora / Waip?uri wetland areas in the Te Nukuroa o Matamata project.
The lower Taiari catchment area is nationally and internationally recognised as a precious refuge for many threatened and endangered species of plant, fish and bird. This area includes the Waihora/Waip?uri Wetland complex, encompassing both the Taiari and Waip?uri rivers and lakes.
Traditionally, this area was utilised by Waitaha, K?ti Mamoe and K?i Tahu over many generations as a significant mahika kai resource and is identified as being of utmost cultural importance to local hap? today.
Te Nukuroa o Matamata project will:
   » seek to reverse the negative effects of drainage, development, and adverse land use practices, the incursion of introduced species that have contributed to the degradation of water quality and the loss of wetlands and riparian vegetation and biodiversity in this catchment.
   » create training and jobs for a team of people led by a Programme Manager over 3 years that are focused on biodiversity enhancement through a range of wetland, river and riparian habitat restoration and protection works.
   » empower kaitiakitaka – connect our people to their traditional waterways and resources, and be a pathway of learning, expertise development and mahi that creates opportunities into the future.
   » Improve water quality through the restoration of native vegetation condition and healthy habitat; reduce introduced pest plant and invasive weeds, and animal pest populations.
   » Draw upon m?tauraka K?i Tahu to enhance the mahika kai values in this takiw?, restoring and ensuring the intergenerational connection to this traditional food store and tapuwae of our tipuna.

The qualities we are searching for in a Project Manager include:

   » Passionate about sustaincapability and rejuvenation of environmental areas.
   » A sound and practiced knowledge of Health and Safety practises
   » Well versed in Project Management principals and processes.
   » Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship management expertise
