Te Mahau – Te Tai Whenua (Central)
Our teams around the region work closely with the early childhood and schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.
We also directly provide learning support for around 40,000 children and young people.
About this function
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the results of young people by ensuring better progression from schooling to further education, training and employment.
The Principal Advisor – Secondary Transitions is a regionally located specialist providing change and thought leadership abilities to education sector leaders, assisting them to support learners to move through education to employment.
You will work with Communities of Learning/K?hui Ako, secondary schools and tertiary education providers to develop new strategies to lift achievement and rates of retention in education, and will help education providers to establish strong local partnerships in order to equip young people to build prosperous careers.
About you
The Principal Advisor – Secondary Transition will have broad practice and knowledge in education and/or leadership abilities, and the capability to support professional change at a school level. We would also expect to see the prosperous demonstration of project and change management methodologies.
Your personal qualities will include highly honed interpersonal skills, a diplomatic approach, an capability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts in order to facilitate seamlessly between employers, tertiary providers and schools, along with a natural analytical style to align with your education knowledge.
You will also offer the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
