Job Description The Tumu Here Iwi Relationships Manager will provide advice and guidance that will enable Auckland Museum to build strong, constructive relationships with wh?nau, hapu, iwi, M?ori communities that are underpinned by sound tikanga M?ori advice and direction in key Museum priorities. The Tumu Here Iwi Relationships Manager will facilitate and lead engagement with M?ori, Pacific and other communities for the repatriation of Human Remains held at Auckland Museum. Coupled with this important objective, the function holder will facilitate and support Museum engagement with M?ori, Pacific and other communities that increase the consciousness and care of taonga held at Auckland Museum. The function position, with the support of the M?ori and Pacific Development team, will grow and guide approaches that increase Tikanga and Te Reo M?ori within the Museum and between the Museum and M?ori. Desired expertise and practiceAdvanced tikanga M?ori expertise including expertise of the differences in tikanga and kawa of different hapu and iwi.» Minimum 5 years' practice in a similar function working in a Museum or similar organisation. » Bachelor's degree qualification in M?ori Studies, Museum Studies or other significant qualification. » Advanced fluency in Te Reo M?ori (to the standard of fluency of a native speaker). » practice in leading the development and implementation of Tikanga M?ori and Te Reo M?ori in a similar organisation. » Proven practice in the practical application of tikanga M?ori, Whaik?rero, Te Reo M?ori, M?tauranga M?ori and Treaty of Waitangi principles. » A strong and broad network within M?ori communities and demonstrated capability and practice interacting prosperously with M?ori communities and colleagues. » Confidence and standing to operate in a tikanga M?ori environment and other cultural settings. » capability to analyse and make sense of M?tauranga M?ori and indigenous expertise and apply Information technology appropriately in a museum setting. » Advanced written and oral presentation expertise. » Confidence to appropriately apply Tikanga M?ori and Te Reo M?ori, or Pacific languages and custom, particularly when handling human remains belonging to M?ori, Pacific and other indigenous communities. » capability to lead in the practice and implementation of tikanga M?ori in the workplace.
