Outdoor Instructors (Senior and Level 1)Job location:Waikato Rest of Waikato Work Type: Permanent » » » - Love Bushcraft/Water activities etc gain above Market rate - Step up opport, one as Level 1 – 2 yrs OI exper, 2nd as Senior - Accommodation/Food/Utilities paid, or commute if Sth Akl/Waikato Our client: • Our client is a highly prosperous education provider in the central Auckland area that prepares students as independent learners, equipping them for careers in the modern world • An independent schooling environment that also values tradition, community and resilience • Work at their own Camp in a stunning setting tasks: • Contribution to the development and delivery of outdoor trips including - planning, logistics, delivery, student management, debrief & cleanup • Lead and instruct Year 7-13 school groups across a variety of locations and a range of ages – - These include: Bushcraft, Tramping, Water sports, Kayaking (lake and sea), Sailing, Snow, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking etc • Ensure students are safe, properly supervised and their needs are met in the boarding facility • Support and assist in all learning programmes on Campus • Assist and contribute to the review of Campus policy & procedures, H & S systems • Cross Campus communications/facilitations & community relations • Committee involvement • Event management/assistance • Adhere to all child safety policies, procedures and conduct requirements • Professional development You: • Will enjoy teaching and learning in the outdoor context (min 2 years exper) • Have NZOIA qualifications, eg in either Bush, Rock Climbing, Personal Whitewater Paddling and Kayaking • Able to instruct out/indoor climbing courses • Be a competent swimmer able also to lead groups sea or lake kayaking Offer: • Substantially above market rate pay, if at mid-senior level this equates to $8-10,000 more • Remuneration is broken into four areas (qualifications, significant practice, additional expertise/practice, and when those selected complete a tailored Senior Outdoor Instructor course • Be paid like Teachers ie term breaks off (apart from odd training) and paid all year, but Christmas you can always head off • Whole new programme, assist to review, may develop further in 2024, even potentially add your own flair, ie what you have a passion for?! • Absolutely beautiful campus, like a resort, ‘we have never had any complaints about the accommodation’ • Accommodation provided (eg for a family in a 3 bed house, or Flat units with shared kitchen/bath) or if you live in Sth Akl or North Waikato, you may choose to commute – though overnight stays will be required at times for Tramps etc. Note: a minimal tax per annum charge, a tiny amount • Be part of a team of 20-25 onsite (includes a Nurse), great gender mix, a lot of senior campus staff visit too, as you are part of the wider school • Free utilities charged and internet provided, with ph allowance • Free food, all provided • Additional Kiwisaver at 4% • great staff Insurance benefits • continuing training in outdoor expertise • A very reliable secure employer, offering long term employment with opportunities to grow in the function • Flexible start time, tell me what suits you?!!
