Te ?huatunga a Te Kooti Whenua M?ori/About theM?ori Land Court
We are a court of record. Te Ture Whenua M?ori Act 1993 (our Act) recognises the significance of M?ori land as a taonga tuku iho of special significance to M?ori. The 2020 Amendments have refreshed the Act to better enable and realise the aspirations of M?ori landowners. The primary objective of the M?ori Land and M?ori Appellate Courts is to promote and assist in the retention of M?ori land in the hands of its owners and for the effective use, management and development of that land by its owners.
Through its record, Te Kooti Whenua M?ori is the guardian of the whakapapa of the land, which is the people.
Te whiwhinga mahi/The opportunity
We have a vacancy for a Pae Manawa (Principal Liaison agent) located in our T?kitimu M?ori Land Court office in Hastings.
This is a rare opportunity to showcase your relationship management expertise and abilities, to broker positive engagement and results for M?ori landowners with the M?ori Land and M?ori Appellate Courts.
Our Pae Manawa are responsible for providing specialist facilitation, assessment, analysis and information services to M?ori land owners and customers of the Court to enable them to obtain and access specialist resources and professional advice.
A key function of the function is to facilitate the occupation, utilisation and development of M?ori land and assets. This is achieved through proactively developing relationships and working in partnership with iwi, hap?, other M?ori organisations, government agencies and significant external service providers.
Our Pae Manawa also conduct seminars and other educational events with M?ori land owners and other customers.

To be prosperous in the function you will have:
   » Already shown your abilities as a proven leader and a great communicator (both written and verbal)
   » An in-depth knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
   » Demonstrated capability to effectively manage M?ori/Crown relationships
   » Proven practical practice applying business sense in an environment applicable to M?ori Land
   » Demonstrated networking, brokering, facilitation and customer service expertise
   » broad knowledge of, and connections with, local iwi, hap? and other M?ori organisations and networks
   » broad working practice with Te Ture Whenua M?ori Act 1993 and related legislation
   » Previous practice in public relations, customer service or media management functions
   » A good general knowledge and respect for tikanga me te reo M?ori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge of Te Ao M?ori.
As part of the technical leadership abilities cohort, you will work alongside well-established, practiced and vibrant leadership abilities teams nationally, while located and working with a smaller, local team. You’ll be flexible, calm, resilient and able to comfortably operate within the court and wider external environments.
The capability to travel and occasionally support wider regional and national programmes is essential. A full New Zealand driver’s licence is required.

Utu ?-tau/income
The appointing income for this function will be between $77,128 and $100,720 located on expertise and practice.
