The Joint Venture for Family and Sexual Violence is seeking a Principal Advisor to work together with the Joint Venture Business Unit and working alongside the incoming Tangata whenua Ministerial Advisory Group.
The function will make a significant contribution to a Te Tiriti located M?ori-Crown relationship as envisioned in Te Aorerekurateh National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence.
This will enable M?ori leadership abilities needed for the elimination of family violence and sexual violence through an enduring model that centres M?tauranga M?ori as a long term solution to an inter-generational issue.
The function will support the Tangata Whenua Ministerial Advisory Board (TWMAG)on significant pieces of work by providing thought leadership abilities, evidence synthesis, policy advice, and navigating complex relationships across Hap?, iwi and tangata whenua communities, the Joint Venture, with the Ministers Office. this function will support the TWMAG to develop a robust work program, relationship management and analysis to enable them to carry out their functions as independent advisors to the Minister for the avoidance of Family Violence and Sexual Violence and support the Minister and Joint Venture Board to make accurate and informed decisions located on an analysis of Te Tiriti.
The Crown- M?ori partnerships, Joint Venture relationships and collaboration, systems thinking and incorporating the voices of tangata whenua are critical to the success of the Joint Venture. Information technology is expected the Principal Advisor will ensure these are proactively considered and included in everyday work.
The function has an expectation of an intimate knowledge of m?tauranga Maori and a contemporary M?ori perspective and can implement these frameworks and methodologies in the policy context.
This opportunity brings a variety of challenges and will have significant impacts for positive transformation all over the family violence and sexual violence system.

To achieve great results in this function, as well as your solid practice you will also bring the following:
   » A strong knowledge of the research and evidence base connected with family violence and sexual violence impact for M?ori
   » Proven networks and connections across the family violence and sexual violence sector, both NGO and Government and proven practice in working with tangata whenua groups
   » Comfort in operating in a tikanga / kaupapa M?ori environment, a degree of fluency in Te Reo M?ori
   » The capability to work in collaboration with peers and to influence key stakeholders across Government and NGO sector
   » Proven practice in providing intellectual and professional leadership abilities
   » knowledge and several years of work practice in the Public sector systems and processes, including accountcapability requirements and the use of performance information to inform decision-making
   » A significant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, expertise, and practice
   » Strong analytical strategic and planning expertise

In 2018, the Joint Venture for Family Violence and Sexual Violence was established to join up policy, strategy and funding for family violence and sexual violence. The Joint Venture brings together the significant chief executives of departments that hold the levers, services and policy settings needed to eliminate family violence and sexual violence. These chief executives operate as a board, making decisions together and setting priorities across the system. They are supported by a business unit that coordinates collaborative activity.

income range: The appointing income for this function will be between $116,741 and $152,450 located on expertise and practice.
