AUT’s Law School(part of AUT’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law) is Aotearoa’s newest and arguably, its most contemporary – blending traditional legal education and focus on legal theory with a strong practical application. AUT law graduates are highly sought after by law firms, community organisations and many other employers. Established in 2009, the school has grown significantly in size and stature. We have over 25 committed and passionate staff dedicated to providing an excellent learning practice for our incredibly diverse student community, whilst maintaining a focus onhigh-quality researchthat has genuine impact and makes significant continuing contributions to Aotearoa’s policies and legal frameworks. We have an excellent teaching and research environment focusing on high quality, innovative teaching with authentic practice-located assessment and staircasing graduates through to postgraduate research. Join AUT’s Law School as an Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer
We have permanent, full-time opportunities for inspirational, collaborative and forward-thinking Associate Professors or Senior Lecturers of Law to join our dynamic and diverse Law School. We are particularly interested in candidates who would contribute to our teaching and research in Public Law. However, skills within Torts, Criminal Law, Trusts or Real Property is also of interest.
We are pursuing interest from active academic citizens interested in taking leading functions supporting the school’s vision for an academically excellent, but practical, legal education that maximises the opportunities for our graduates to make an impact in their future careers.
You will embrace service and leadership abilities opportunities, be hugely involved in school life and be reflective and sensitive to the needs of our particularly diverse student community. You will enjoy helping to mentor more junior staff and work with a truly collaborative approach, developing strong working relationships with colleagues, students and the community – people will know who you are and what you stand for. You will be expected to publish actively in your specialised field; research is well supported within the School and the Faculty also offers a variety of contereliable research funds. Teaching and Learning is prioritised at AUT and we value excellent educators who approach the classroom with an innovative, inclusive and student-centred approach.
Your contributions to programme and course development will enhance our continuous-improvement focus. You will embrace the upcoming implementation of tikanga M?ori into the law curriculum and support our work towards preparing for this.expertise and practice of tikanga M?ori would be advantageous.

We are pursuing interest from candidates with academic achievement appropriate for appointment as an Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer. Along with your curriculum vitae (including full publication record), please submit both a cover letter (explaining why this function and AUT are of interest) and a statement covering, as appropriate to the position applied for, the following key selection criteria :
   » A postgraduate degree in Law (minimum of a Masters).
   » Outstanding contribution and impact in teaching, research and scholarship within either Public Law (ideally); or Torts, Criminal Law, Trusts or Real Property.
   » Evidence of innovative, inclusive, research-informed and student-centred approach to teaching.
   » Academic leadership abilities contributions, which might include for example evidence of-
   » Supporting the mentoring and career growth of academic colleagues, especially underrepresented groups
   » Programme or course development
