Job Opportunity: Family Harm Practitioner:Te PunaJob description:Job DescriptionTe Puna Oranga is a kaupapa Maori agency, established for 38 years, who work with whanau affected by sexual violence. In addition, we have a small team dedicated to working with the Integrated Safety Response (ISR), Christchurch’s response to family violence. We are a part of the Tupono Collaboration, made up of 5 Maori organisations. We provide other services such as Counselling, Social Work advocacy and education, Youth mentoring, Tane Services, Kaumatua Services, Wairua Maori and Sexual Violence Crisis Response. The prosperous candidate would be working within our ISR team.Qualifications & practice » capability to connect with whanau using tools of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga to establish trusting relationships » Understand the dynamics of family violence, assess risk and ensure safety for all whanau » Understand the impacts of trauma on all whanau members and engage appropriate services to support trauma management » Understand and use Te Reo and Tikanga Maori tools to support whanau » capability to self manage and be self directed, use initiative, engage support, think quickly, » Understand and adopt a safety first approach » capability to understand that whanau have the answers and to facilitate these answers to create goal setting » Work with whanau but also provide feedback to Team Leaders, Collaborative Partners, CEO’s and Directors. » capability to share information but also keep confidentiality » capability to work independently but also work in a team Tasks & responsibilities » Engage whanau affected by family violence » Receive whanau referrals from agencies and provide continuing support » actively contact with other agencies to ensure best support results for whanau » Use whakawhanaungatanga and manaakitanga to establish trusting relationships with whanau. » Ensure safety and safety planning and risk management for all whanau members » Supports whanau to identify goals and work towards achieving positive results » capability to identify dynamic risk factors and mitigate the risk » Develop and maintain positive relationships with agencies both Government and Non-government in order to advocate for and support whanau » Working with all whanau members including perpetrators & victims.
