This is an opportunity to lead the Ministry’s advice on the next steps for international education following the impacts of COVID-19.
The Ministry’s function in international education offers exciting challenges for policy professionals. Our work sits across social and economic policy, and we work closely with other government agencies including TEC, MFAT, MBIE, ENZ among others.
The International Policy team leads the Ministry’s policy advice to deliver systemic change that increases cultural diversity within our education system alongside maximising the social and economic benefits for New Zealand.
The International Education sector has been significantly impacted by COVID 19 and we have a work programme guided by the New Zealand International Education Strategy 2018-2030. Core parts of the work programme include defining what ‘value’ means for the international education sector, exploring the future of international education in primary and intermediate schools, regulatory change affecting existing levies and fees, progressing an outbound mobility strategy, and leading advice to progress the wellbeing of international students in New Zealand. You will be leading or supporting these workstreams and providing business as usual advice to Ministers.

To be prosperous, you’ll be known for your passion, energy, inquiring mind, collegiality and attitude to succeed. This is interesting and fast paced work. We encourage a diverse group of candidates to build on an already great team culture.
As a government agency, the Ministry is committed to following Te Titiriti guiding principles in our work.
