About Te Ora Hou Wellington East The vision of Te Ora Hou Wellington East is for Tamariki (children) and Rangatahi (youth) to develop a strong sense of identity to reach their God given potential in a safe, supportive and creative environment. We support positive youth development through opportunities e.g. employment and education for youth in Wellington – with a primary focus on M?ori and Pasifika rangatahi, their wh?nau and communities. We aim to provide quality, sustainable services which meet the needs of youth and their wh?nau in Wellington East and to progress healthy, well- connected communities. We develop strong credible relationships, build leaders and to motivate and support youth who come from the communities we serve. We believe that the design, implementation and evaluation of our projects should involve those people that benefit from the projects. This means wh?nau, rangatahi and local community members are empowered and engaged at all levels of decision making. Key responsibilities include: » To provide a welcoming and inclusive space for rangatahi to develop personal identity and self-consciousness. » Engaging, motivating and working with rangatahi and their wh?nau in a culturally sensitive, inclusive and appropriate manner » Providing mentoring and support for rangatahi, assisting in the transition process and motivating youth towards achieving education, training and/or employment goals » Assisting in youth programme planning including consideration for cultural relevance, inclusivity, health and safety, and financial parameters » Identify and conduct quality assessment of rangatahi’s needs » Engaging with and working collaboratively with stakeholders such as Police, schools, church, employers and other community » Working collaboratively with colleagues to support programme planning, delivery, reporting and evaluation » Ensure that all tasks undertaken comply with current Te Ora Hou Wellington East Health and Safety Policy and Procedures, Code of Ethics for Youth Work (Ara Taiohi) You will need to be fully vaccinated and provide evidence that confirms your status.
