Summary
The Whetu Marewa (Rising Star) services aims to build the confidence, resilience & wellbeing of taiohi (young people) with mental health and addiction related issues by enabling access to a range of supported interventions. Whetu Marewa provides mobile support in a community out-reach approach by offering a Registered Health Professional-led school and community-located clinics.
Your function will involve supporting taiohi (12-24 years) with mild and moderate mental health and addiction concerns and social stressors.
You will be working 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 8.30am- 5.00pm in Hamilton
You will be:
   » Delivering M?ori cultural interventions including tuakiritanga, whanaungatanga and toi M?ori.
   » Facilitating recreational and cultural activities to engage taiohi and help them build expertise, confidence, connections and mana Motuhake.
   » Working directly with taiohi (in 1:1 and group capacity), their whanau and their peers with a focus on mana restoring support.
   » Collaborating with local schools and other health supports to identify vulnerable Taiohi.
   » Providing assessment and support to identified taiohi using a range of evidence located interventions.
   » Building consciousness and education of mental health and addiction concerns in the community setting.
   » Educating and informing on mental health and wellbeing for taiohi and their wh?nau.
You will have:
   » practice working with taiohi M?ori and wh?nau in a community setting.
   » A commitment to a trauma informed care and recovery located approach.
   » Astute knowledge of assessment and screening tools.
   » practice with developing and facilitating group work.
   » knowledge of therapeutic interventions in alignment with culturally competent practice. Therapeutic interventions include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness expertise, Solution Focused Therapy.
   » practice with mentoring taiohi and young people.
   » Relationship -building expertise in school and service settings will be essential.
About the Team
We have an existing, friendly, and highly motivated wh?nau team already located in Hamilton. You will have access to a centrally-located office, with outreach work in the Hamilton community and neighbouring towns. You will join a team of well connected and practiced people that you will have regular contact with.
About You
We would expect the prosperous applicant to have advanced expertise in working collaboratively with other providers to address complex needs. We need someone who has the capability to support and inspire a team- someone who can work alongside and provide mentoring and information to others.

You will also hold:
   » A current New Zealand full driver's licence
   » A current first aid certificate
   » HPCA recognised qualification and current practicing certificate
