About the Organisation:

About this function:
You will work on a range of planning projects across a very diverse portfolio, and you will be required to demonstrate your depth and breadth of technical skills and practice as this is a fast-paced work environment. We are seeking for a Senior Planner who is dynamic, shows initiative, and will take responsibility for delivering results within a customer-centric environment. Reporting to the Team Leader within the Environmental Planning team but also planning a supporting and mentoring function to the Planning Advisers in the team.
Strong technical skills working with the Resource Management Act will be fortified by your capability to deliver high-quality work and decisions through exceptional time management, and advanced expertise and application of the various legislative frameworks, underpinned by your project management skills and capability to present to a wide variety of forums, including engagement and consultation with the community and elected Members. This challenging function will allow you to extend your policy development and resource management skills at a time where changes to legislation and will provide fresh opportunities and greater potential for innovation in planning.

About you:
You will bring exceptional interpersonal communication, strong stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills, with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. You will possess a tertiary qualification in resource management, planning or policy analysis or similar, and continued professional development such as professional NZPI membership would be advantageous.
this function can flex to suit a Professional Planner that is already operating at this level within consultancy or within another NZ Council looking to escape to the regions, or a Senior Manager (looking to return to a hands-on technical function without staff management responsibilities), or for an practiced Planning Adviser (ready to step up to a broader focused function), who possesses the mix of technical, leadership abilities and relationship management essential to succeed in this function.
