The People Capcapability (PC) team supports people leaders to build high-performing teams capable of delivering on our purpose. About Pay Equity
The Ministry Pay Equity team is responsible for investigating and settling pay equity claims raised for staff employed by the Ministry of Education. This is done in conformity with the State Sector Pay Equity Claims Oversight and Governance Framework and the requirements of the Equal Pay Act 1972.
Pay equity means that people are paid equally for doing work of equal value. Information technology acknowledges the value of the skills, responsibilities and demands of workers in female dominated occupations that have suffered from gender-located discrimination because of perceptions and prejudices about the value of “women’s work”.
About this function
The Senior Advisor within the Ministry Pay Equity team provides skills for specified areas of work and has input into strategy development and planning, to ensure the Ministry’s pay equity approach is well-informed, integrated with other Ministry work programmes, and is well implemented.
About you
To be prosperous in the function, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at all levels and across internal and external stakeholder groups. You’ll be communicating your ideas through high quality written and verbal advice.
You will also offer the following:
   » strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a proven capability to establish and maintain positive relationships
   » practice using Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Project, Visio etc)
   » practice and skills in Employment Relations and other significant work areas, including researching and developing strategies and the interpretation of employment agreements, legislation and policies
   » Sound knowledge of the Public Sector environment, operations and other contextual factors
   » a proven capability to work flexibly, across different work environments including remote working
   » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
You will be joining a collegial fast paced team who work in a flexible environment in the centre of Wellington.
