Adventure Hostels - New Zealand's best-rated hostel group are on the hunt for a vibrant, engaging & focused individual to supervise, manage and aid us with the opening of our third hostel and newest addition to the Adventure Hostel group. We're looking to take the right candidate on with an immediate start. this function is currently part-time with 16 hours dedicated to housekeeping and superviseing the small number of long-term guests that we have staying with us through the Winter and Spring. The function will develop in scope and also in the number of working hours as we progress through the year towards the date of the hostels grand opening to short-term guests in December 2022. This Managing caretaker position would ideally suit a candidate with entry level tourism practice as they look to develop their expertise further. We can be flexible with the rostered working hours for the right candidate, who may also wish to conicide this function with another working position elsewhere. You’ll also hold the right to work within New Zealand and will likely have previous working practice within hostels, hotels or hospo. Lastly, you’re willing to commit to a full season with us – between 4-6 months. The nitty gritty » You'll be working solo, so good timekeeping and initative is a must for this position. » You'll be checking-in with Management frequently, who are located in Queenstown. » You'll need to provide a great customer practice for all of our guests. Be attentive, social, and generally add positive enthusiasm to the overall atmosphere. » Be present for and responsible for the arrival & check-in of new Long-stay guests. » Providing a hostel tour to all new arrivals, showcasing our amenities, facilities and generally welcoming each new guest into the Adventure family. » Accurate and honest recording of bookings and payments, taking and processing credit and debit card payments and accurately logging these within our reservation systems. » Performing of housekeeping tasks, which will include: - Changing of beds on check-out - Deep cleans of specific areas of the hostel - everyday kitchen & bathroom cleans - Vacuum and mopping of communal spaces - Washing of all linens using provided washing machines and dryers » Completing any additional tasks given to you by your line Manager. The additional tasks may include deep cleaning, administrative or maintenance related tasks. Adventure Hostels will never provide you with any tasks that you would be unable to complete either due to skill or physicality. Training will always be provided when needed. » Always try to maintain professional attitude when inside the Hostel, urging Guests to follow the rules and to not encourage any behaviours deemed to be unwanted within the hostel. This also means reporting any discovered illicit activities or behaviours of Guests or Staff to Management immediately.
