Reporting to the Regional Commissioner, the Operations Director - Lower North Region is a key regional leadership abilities function with a diverse remit including leading the development and delivery of community probation services, psychological services and rehabilitation and employment opportunities to offenders/prisoners across the Lower North region. this function will play a key part in driving the change in the Lower North Region that will come from our organisational strategies particularly those focussed on working with M?ori.

Leading an integrated and unified approach to service delivery across the range of services your team provides, in this function you will:
   » Inspire and lead a team of specialists and managers with accountcapability for the effective and efficient delivery of services to the people in our management
   » Maintain and lift service delivery, quality, performance and practice across this busy region
   » Build and foster external relationships with communities, providers, agencies
   » Influencing and shaping culture in line with our strategy
   » Monitor, assess and report on performance and quality
   » Empower and enable your team to demonstrate Ara Poutama Aotearoa’s core values and support organisational change

To be prosperous in this position you will have strong leadership abilities and management practice within an operational environment. You will possess a strong working knowledge of community practice and ideally a strong knowledge of the function Ara Poutama Aotearoa plays in the wider justice sector.
In addition, you will:
   » Have strong knowledge of, and practice in working with Kaupapa M?ori.
   » Ideally, a strong knowledge of Te Reo
   » Exercise good judgement, particularly in relation to assessing risk
   » Thrive working under pressure
   » Demonstrate the capability to think conceptually and make the big picture connections while remaining attuned to everyday operational issues at ground level.
   » Have proven relationship management expertise and enjoy the significant community and external stakeholder engagement that comes with this key function.
this function will give you the scope to think strategically and look for opportunities to innovate, but will also have you paying attention to the detail, particularly when Information technology comes to managing high risk situations and a significant budget.
 
Some travel will be required from time to time.
 
Utu ?-tau | income
The mid point of the income range is $178,375 and the full range(85%-120%) is $ $151,619 – $214,050$.Appointment and remuneration will reflect expertise and practice significant to the function.
