Te ?huatunga a te t?ranga/About the function
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new national team which is being introduced as part of the Government’s Strengthening the Family Court initiative.
These are important functions within te T?h? o te Ture that will build stronger relationships and connections with communities and make a difference through supporting parents and wh?nau to make informed decisions about family justice services and how to access them in their communities.
As a visible function within the community, you will actively engage and collaborate with service providers, community groups, agencies, and local Iwi, to ensure accurate information is being communicated to families and the court where applicable, as well as knowledge the availcapability and suitcapability of their services and resources. You will also inform these groups, as well as parents and whanau, on the Ministry’s services and processes, community services, and work with participants and the court to facilitate access to justice.
You will be easily accessible and readily available to those needing information and guidance about the Family Court and related services. This is not your standard 9-5 function, and from time to time you will need to be able to work weekends and outside normal work hours, to meet the needs of our communities. Travel across your region will also be required to ensure all communities across Aotearoa are receiving consistent, quality support.

He p?kenga tou/expertise and practice
We are seeking for people who reflect the community we are serving in and who can effectively assist T?h? o te Ture in honouring our commitment to M?ori. Your practice working with community groups and a wide variety of socio-economic family situations is important to prosperously implementing this new service. A full driver’s licence is also required.
Key expertise and practice include the following:
   » practice working with community groups/high level of community involvement
   » practice reflecting the diversity in community you are working in
   » practice working with parents and whanau
   » Excellent relationship management expertise
   » A high level of comfort working with Whanau, Hapu and Iwi
   » Knowledge of Tikanga Maori and some fluency in Te Reo Maori is desirable, as is a availability to learn
   » capability to be flexible, adaptable and pragmatic
   » Time management expertise

This includes the utilisation and uptake of Family Legal Aid Services, Family Dispute Resolution Services, Parenting Through Separation and with preparation and services in the Family Court.

income range: The appointing income for this function will be between $71,720 and $93,658 located on expertise and practice.
