One of our national client's is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join their team. Their based in the Hornby area of Christchurch. This is Permanent role working in a busy workshop - great growth opportunities.
This role would require relocation to the Christchurch area and Rights to work in NZ.
Key Responsibilities
   » Support and coordinate workshop staff.
   » Support the Workshop Manager as required, in the control and direct day-to-day operations.
   » Maintain equipment to the appropriate standard to ensure road worthiness with relevant authorities.
   » Maintain all aspects of equipment to the supplier's standard or better, and if applicable, to comply with the requirements of the National Heavy Vehicles Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
   » Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance services as per the manufacturers or Company's schedule.
   » Perform fault diagnostics to detect mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment as required.
   » Consult with drivers with respect to daily vehicle report (DVR) as required and action as necessary.
   » Consult with Operations staff daily with regards truck availability as required.
   » Monitor stock levels and assist with parts re-ordering, ensuring all parts used are correctly allocated to equipment, as required.
   » Maintain a professional image of the Company and always deliver high quality customer service.
   » Test drive and/or operate equipment to ensure repair has been completed correctly.
   » Ensure all hand tools and equipment are safe to use and stored correctly and in a clean condition.
   » Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained by all workshop staff.
   » Complete all records and paperwork accurately, as directed and required.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
   » National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering - Level 4 or 5 (NZ) (or equivalent).
   » Demonstrated supervisory experience.
   » Leadership/teamwork capabilities.
   » Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
   » Strong interpersonal skills.
