Joining Team Ngobi will see you happy to work autonomously within Parliament, while being a committed part of Terisa’s wider team of colleagues who are located in the ?taki Electorate Offices in K?piti and Levin.
Terisa’s Samoan heritage underpins her remit in the Labour Caucus to represent Pasifika – with a commitment to Fa’a Samoa – the Samoan way, and the language of Samoa. Terisa also has a special connection in her electorate and a commitment to Te Ao M?ori – the M?ori world view. Te Reo M?ori and the observation of tikanga are an important part of that commitment. Ideally, you will possess a deep knowledge of Te Ao M?ori and/or Fa’a Samoa, alongside your well-developed spoken and written language expertise.
practice or training in communications will stand you in good stead to assist with the creation of Terisa’s newsletters and social media. You will be well-known for your maturity, initiative and attention to detail in responding to changing priorities. The capability to build strong and trusted relationships is key to being prosperous in this function.
While this is a highly varied position, where no two days are ever the same, some of your key responsibilities include the following:
   » Assisting the team in managing Terisa’s busy inbox and responding to correspondence
   » superviseing Terisa’s diary, and coordinating her travel bookings
   » Supporting Terisa’s in-parliament activities (Select Committees and in the House) on sitting weeks
   » Generating content for Terisa’s newsletters and social media
   » Advising and reporting on the office budget and expenses

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be apolitical in your function, however some consciousness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

This is an events located, fixed-term function linked to the MP, working 30 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required and can be negotiated for the right candidate.
The appointing income band for this function is $54,712 to $68,390 per annum. Appointments will be located on your expertise and practice.
