Medical agent Special Scale (MO) - Public Health Physician - COVID-19 Response
•Current NZMC registered SMO including GP and PGY2+
•Dunedin
•Fixed term (18 months), part-time

Do you have an interest in Public Health and the capability to enhance the capabilities of our public health service in the Southern District Health Board in a fixed term, 0.5FTE function for eighteen months? this function is open to current NZMC vocationally registered SMO's and PGY 2+ candidates.

this function will primarily provide support to our Public Health team at Southern DHB and our response to district COVID-19 notifications. You will provide leadership abilities and coaching for the scoping, gathering of new Case and Contact details, developing a Case Management Plan, lead case reviews, lead outbreaks, and upskilling and coaching of team members. You will be liaising with our local PHO regarding COVID-19 testing implementation; supporting Public Health staff in superviseing testing for border workers.

Supporting a Public Health response to other disease notifications, you will provide clinical advice to clinicians, support nurses and health protection agents with assigned areas in support of PHS activities in the control of communicable diseases.

We have three offices across the district- Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown with 56 staff. We are working through an exciting transformational change. Our staff work collaboratively with our partners as we move toward using health in all policies approaches to address the determinants of health, reducing inequities and improving the health and wellbeing of our southern communities where they live, learn, work and play.

Due to the continuing Public Health Covid19 response, a proven capability to work under pressure is essential.

With some of New Zealand's most famous scenery and holiday spots on our doorstep (Queenstown, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Stewart Island, to name but a few), our district offers affordable living, great schools, a true work-life balance, and a relaxed way of life with no traffic jams in sight. Dunedin is a vibrant University town and a great place to live and work. Invercargill is situated at the base of the South Island and the people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality.

You will already hold registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand under a general or vocational scope. A full driver's licence is essential, and travel will be required.
