Help shape the future of education
At the Ministry of Education, we work together to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent results.
Our organisation is made up of more than 3,000 talented and committed people around New Zealand, from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person, and adult student in our education system.
About our group and team
Our aim is to put children and young people at the heart of the education system and encourage all New Zealanders to participate in lifelong learning. The Sector Enablement and Support Group is the key interface between the Ministry and learning support services for children and young people with disabilities and additional learning needs.
About this function
The Project Coordinator will be a key function in a small project team that aims to deliver recommendations to Ministers’ and the Government on the right learning supports for tamariki and rangatahi – for when they need it, and for as long as they need it.
Learning supports are responding to a broad range of needs which can be complex, overlap and range in intensity and frequency for each ?konga. Learning support is about supporting the adults around the child or young person to determine the best types of support within their environments and contexts.
This is a fixed-term function until 7 September 2022. The Project Coordinator will support the Highest Needs Review project team and is expected to provide integral coordination support.
Specifically, supporting the project team to complete key activities, tasks, and milestones. This will include providing written responses to stakeholder inquiries, monitoring a shared mailbox, booking meetings or events, organising diaries, making sure that project documents are up to date, finding and collating information to be analysed, and supporting the Project Manager with project planning.
About you:
» The capability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
» Excellent oral and written communications expertise, with a strong focus on taking clear and concise notes and responding to stakeholder engagement
» The capability to respond flexibly to changing circumstances and requirements as they arise
   » Well-developed organisational expertise
» The capability to think critically to find and collate information
» Readiness to support the Project Manager with project planning
If you thrive in a fast-paced, project environment, and enjoy working in a delivery and results focused team, then we would like to hear from you. In return, we will provide you with opportunities to further develop your project expertise.
You will also offer the following:
» The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
» knowledge of the provision of learning supports in the New Zealand education system would be an advantage
You’ll be joining a small project team, the Highest Needs Review, which is working towards developing options and solutions to support children and young people to achieve their full potential through their education.
Are you ready to make a difference?
We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including M?ori, Pacific and those with disabilities, who will enrich our knowledge of the education system.
As a government agency, the Ministry is committed to keeping to the Treaty of Waitangi’s guiding principles in our work for and with M?ori students, their wh?nau, hap? and iwi.
