At Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te K?wanatanga we work to ensure effective, trusted government record-keeping for the benefit of New Zealanders. We preserve and protect more than seven million official records, from 19th century treaties to 21st century documents and data. The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-located Institutions was formally established on 1 February 2018. The commission was established to “consider the practices of children, young persons, and vulnerable adults who were in care between I January 1950 and 31 December 1999 inclusive”. The Department of Internal Affairs is responsible for administering the inquiry.
We have a vacant position in our Christchurch office that provides a great opportunity for an Archivist interested in joining our Royal Commission of Inquiry team to widen their practice and gain a deeper knowledge of Archives New Zealand's responsibility into the Inquiry and outreach work. You will work with talented and practiced team of Digitisation adjuncts and other well-established Archivists all over Aotearoa.
this function is subject to very sensitive material and will require candidates that understand the importance of the Royal Commission Inquiry, researching into the inquiry
is preferred.

What you will bring along:
   » Excellentcommunication and presentation expertise.
   » significant tertiary qualification or equivalent practice.
   » In-depth knowledge of archival systems and the Public Records Act.
   » Good knowledge of Tikanga M?ori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
   » Excellent research expertise.
