At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?We are pursuing a General Surgeon to make our team at Timaru Public Hospital six strong. We are offering 0.75 FTE, with a roster of three weeks on, one week completely off. During your 'on' weeks, you will commonly have two half day four hour theatre sessions, one half day endoscopy session, two half day clinics (one being a minor procedures clinic). You will be responsible for 0.75FTE of a 5 FTE divided on call roster. If that balance of FTE is not to your liking; there are easy avenues, within the hospital, to pick up lateral functions which increase FTE. The intention is to provide all SMOs with a full year roster six months in advance to optimise work-life balance. The position is supported by two non-training registrars for the department and a full complement of interns, aim long term is to work toward training registrars (as possible). There is an excellent culture at the DHB which allows Surgeons to explore and develop within the profession. The immediate team is tight-knit and supportive.
