About our group and team The Performance and Quality team support and enable the work of the Auckland Learning Support teams to deliver effective services. This includes working alongside others to develop and implement new initiatives, lead workforce development through the provision of professional development and induction, managing contracts and funding for the sector, and providing data analysis to support continuous improvement. We work with others from across the ministry both locally and nationally. About this function The Practice and Implementation Adviser (PIA) Pacific provides leadership abilities to shape quality effective services for Pacific children and young people with learning support needs. They work with others across the organisation to build capacity and capcapability both within the MoE and externally. While the primary focus is within Learning Support, other contributions across the organisation are required Tasks specific to the PIA Pacific portfolio include the following: » Leading tailored support for staff working in Learning support from Pacific background » Working with others to design and implement induction and professional learning and development programme for staff in Learning Support to ensure they have the expertise and knowledge needed to provide culturally appropriate service delivery for our Pacific community » Providing specialised advice, guidance and collaborative support across teams and work programmes in learning support to frame and strengthen supports for Pacific (e.g. recruitment process, SPP, National initiatives, wider LS PLD programme) » Collaborating with SE&S teams and leadership abilities outside Learning Support to ensure the perspective of Pacific children and young people with learning support needs is understood. » Analyse data and performance trends to raise implications for service to Pacific Learners or resource equity » Working with others to strengthen relationships with Pacific community groups, education and social sector providers About you You will offer the following: » significant qualifications and expertise within Education and Pacific Communities. Knowledge of Health and Social Services an advantage » Demonstrated initiative, energy and leadership abilities » Advanced knowledge of effective Learning Support service delivery in Pacific medium contexts Exceptional written and verbal communication expertise » Advanced expertise in working collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals » A high level of conceptual and analytical capcapability, including reading, analysing and critiquing research from a Pacific perspective » capability to design and facilitate workshops and practice at effectively leading changes to practice » broad knowledge and practice within Pacific communities » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and understand the unique relationship between tangata whenua and Pacific communities (tuakana/teina) Are you ready to make a difference?
