Farm adjunct:Job description:Farm adjunctPayment: Accommodation & Paid ($20-22)Job location: Dunsandel Region: Christchurch & Canterbury practice: Limited practice Necessary Listing Added: 13/05/2021 Due to a senior member of staff wishing to go part time from June, we require a motivated farm adjunct to join our established team for the 21/22 season and beyond. Requirements for this function - A genuine passion for working with animals - Always setting high standards to deliver good results - Honest and hardworking with a good sense of humour - High attention to detail 1-2 years dairy farming practice would be advantageous, but is not essential. Core tasks include: - Milking cows - Plant and vat washes - Treating cows - Shifting and maintaining rotorainer irrigation - Bringing herds for milking - Break fencing as per grazing plan However there is no limit to this function with options to be involved in every aspect of the day to day running and decision making on the farm - you will get out what you put in. To be considered for this function you need to be eligible to work in New Zealand. Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to pass a drug test. The farm is on track to do 535ms/cow this season, or 1926ms/ha. The farm will peak milk approx. 785 cows through a 44 bail rotary shed on 218 effective ha. The shed is well set up with automatic drafting, ACR’s, auto teat spray and in-shed feeding of grain. We feed fodderbeet standing in the shoulders of the season. There is a run off 5km down the road where we winter the cows and run some young stock over summer. Roster 6:1, 5:2 with every Thursday off and then every other Wednesday/Thursday. We are located 30mins from Christchurch and have tidy single persons housing available. Skills:
