Then this job is right for you.We are seeking for empathetic, resilient and honest people interested in applying their expertise and practice to supporting the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi, by being a Youth Worker in our Residences. Our Youth Justice Residences provide a safe, secure and supportive environment where rangatahi (young people) who have offended can make changes and get their lives back on track. In addition to maintaining secure facilities, we aim to help rehabilitate young offenders. We do this because every young person of Aotearoa deserves the chance to lead the best life they can, just like other young people their age. As a Youth Worker, you will be building a high-trust, positive connection with rangatahi - helping them develop the confidence and expertise they need to be significant contributors to their wh?nau and communities. You will understand that the causes of offending are complex, and that prosperously dealing with young offenders, demands action beyond simple punitive measures. Our Youth Workers are there for various parts of the everyday residence routine, to ensure a safe and secure environment is maintained, but also to help our rangatahi build and strengthen relationships, enhance their education, and support their personal growth and rehabilitation. For this reason, we run a 24/7 operation, with shifts ranging from morning shift (6.30am-3.00pm), afternoon shift (2.30pm-11.00pm) and night shifts (10.30pm – 7.00am).
