Offer: Care Worker:HainesAttractJob description:Job DescriptionCare Worker, full-time, permanent, Christchurch/KaiapoiOranga Tamariki has Supervised Group Homes that accommodate and our staff work with young people aged 10 – 18 with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Each home cares for up to fouryoung people and delivers an intensive therapeutic behavioural change programme. We are seeking for positive function models to work with our young people, helping them turn their lives around. To help them achieve this, our care workers, as part of a team, provide everyday care and support. They get involved assisting our young people to re-engage with school/vocation, attending appointments, having visits with their family, connecting with peers, and managing themselves within the home. For this important position We are pursuing people who have the following: » Want the opportunity to work with a group of diverse and challenging tamariki » Would be a function model to tamariki around everyday activities and interactions with others » Play a key function in supporting and mentoring young people » Provide a positive approach to working with difficult behaviours » Participate in activities with young people and are physically active » Encourage young people to try and participate in sport, cultural, arts and life skill activities » Celebrate achievements in the young peoples’ progress » Support young people to connect with their whanau and communities » Build trusting relationships and assist tamariki to engage in education and health services » Will be excellent communicators, both verbal and written » Make sound judgment calls and have well-developed interpersonal expertise » Have a positive attitude and will be enthusiastic about their work » Have a passion for working with youth and have significant practice » Have a full clean NZ driver’s licence These are 40 hour per week positions across a mix of AM and PM shifts.
