Positions located in Manukau, Balmoral and Kaitaia
Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri is a kaupapa Maori social service provider serving the communities of Tamaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau. We are the social services arm of Te Pihopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau – the Maori Anglican Church. Our ministry and mission is to uphold whanau that are in need of compassion and aroha, and to lead the restoration of whanau wellbeing.
We are seeking for practiced and motivated Kairuruku (Social Practice Workers) that are located across our three sites in Kaitaia, South Auckland and Central Auckland.
We invite people with proven expertise and practice in the social services sector to join our team of social workers, counsellors and kaiawhina, in their important work of delivering tikanga located social interventions and solutions.
About the function:
Working as part of a team, the Kairuruku/Social Practice Worker will support individuals and whanau using their social work, counselling or other professional expertise within a strengths-located, multi-systemic approach.
The support to whanau may be carried out on site, in whanau homes or other settings as appropriate. Kairuruku/Social Practice Workers will engage with whanau who are experiencing significant challenges that impact adversely on the children and/or whanau, and work with them towards achieving positive results.
The tasks and tasks may include undertaking assessments, developing and case managing plans with clients, customizing resources and support for people, providing social work, counselling or other support services to individuals and whanau; facilitating Programmes; and carrying out evaluations during and following the completion of work.
expertise & practice:
· Completed Social work, Counselling or significant health or mental health degree
· Have a professional body registration or working towards it
· Have expertise and practice of Kaupapa M?ori approaches and practice in whanau & tamariki centered practice
· Be committed to the values of tika, pono, aroha and have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and to community diversity
· Have Trauma informed training/practice
· practice working with victims of physical and/or sexual violence
· practice managing a caseload and facility
· Be competent in computer expertise, verbal and written communication expertise.
· Proficiency in Tikanga M?ori and Te Reo M?ori preferred but not essential
Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri Trust has positioned itself to outreach to whanau that are in need of compassion and aroha, in order to overcome historic and present day trauma.
