In this function you can be assured of a great variety in your work. You will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary clinical steps are taken to assist clients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education. The Hutt Valley North Community Mental Health & Addictions Team is a multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, alcohol and other drug clinicians, and administration staff. We are managed by a Clinical Nurse Manager / Team Leader. Our catchment area extends north from the suburbs of Stokes Valley to the Rimutaka hill (The border between Hutt and Wairarapa). Our client group is diverse and we cover a broad-spectrum both socioeconomically and culturally. The Hutt Valley North Community Mental Health & Addictions Team is contracted to meet the mental health needs of 3% of this population who have moderate to severe mental illness. tasks Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with serious mental illness and severe psychological disorders Work in collaboration with the service user, their family/whanau and the community clinical teams to promote recovery Treatment in a community setting of a broad range of diagnoses and co-morbidities Provide advice and support to colleagues in primary care Hold responsibility for the management of patients subject to compulsory treatment Supervise psychiatry registrars and medical students Contribute to the on call roster for psychiatrists expertise AND practice Vocationally registered in psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) FRANZCP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ Have a current driver's license ABOUT THE ORGANISATION Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. CCDHB operates two hospitals - Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua - as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu. The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Discapability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB's and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual discapability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
