This is a rare opportunity to be part of an organisation single-minded in our mission to reach readers across Aotearoa New Zealand. Established in 1972, Read NZ Te Pou Muramura advocates for reading for pleasure and all the benefits thereof, both for the individual and the collective good.
We do this primarily through our programme work including our world-famous in New Zealand Writers in Schools - bringing books to life to encourage and inspire the next generation to pick up a book and keep reading. In 2021 this programme connected 35,000 tamariki and rangatahi with 80 NZ writers, poets, illustrators and storytellers in schools from primary through secondary, and from north to south.
We work with an extraordinarily talented pool of people who can accomplish wonderful things with us and the schools they visit. We want to do more of this by growing the reach of our programmes.
We are pursuing an practiced Programme Manager to prosperously deliver Read NZ Te Pou Muramura's education programmes, including:
   » Oversight and delivery of our Writers in Schools and Writers in Communitiesprogrammes to schools, Kura, communitiesand alternative education settings as required, across Aotearoa New Zealand. This includes author and school liaison, induction of new authors, author support, school bookings, author accommodation and travel, analysing and reporting on feedback and evidence of impact.
   » Co-ordinate and publish The School Library e-news
   » Support the delivery of a robust and pro-active advocacy strategy
You will be the primary contact for everything to do with Writers in Schools and most importantly for maintaining quality relationships with the schools and writers who engage with our programmes.
This is a pivotal function withinour organisation and you will work closely with the Chief Executive and with our small and perfectly formed team.
Above all, you need to be a relationship builder, a practical thinker and a problem solver, detail-focused and process-driven, and a team player.
Read NZ Te Pou Muramura recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi |The Treaty as New Zealand's founding constitutional document. An knowledge of the importance of relationships withM?ori is critical to this function.
